For the shortest version, here's my resume.
I’ve been writing about music professionally since 2017 and as a hobby since 2013, when I realized while writing about music for my college radio station, Rutgers’ 90.3 the Core, that I was passionate about doing so.
I worked in the music department at 90.3 the Core, leading me to a full-time job at the music promotion company Marauder shortly after my graduation in 2015. I spent three years at Marauder, then left to focus on writing about music. As I was building my freelance music journalism career, fate led me to an SEO writing career as well.
From summer 2022 through summer 2024, I primarily focused on SEO content while pausing most of my music journalism work, and now, I’m doing both again. I feel refreshed, renewed, and ready to balance both these uses of my time and energy in a newly fulfilling way. I've also racked up plenty of copywriting experience along the way and look forward to more opportunities in this realm, especially in the world of vegan cooking and baking, which both rank among my greatest passions
I began my five years on staff at the award-winning SEO content writing agency The Stellastra Effect in January 2019. I began my time at the agency writing B2B and B2C SEO content, as well as sponsored articles, for lead generation agencies and very small businesses. By July 2021, I was editing other writers’ work for the same clients for whom I had previously been writing.
This arc led to my promotion to the agency’s managing editor in January 2022. I continued my writing and editing duties while managing client campaigns and serving as clients’ primary point of contact. My work managing Stellastra’s 2022 campaign for Improove, Inc. and Spacial Homes earned me and my team “Best Topic Specific Blog” in the 2023 Content Marketing Awards.
During most of my time at Stellastra, I continued professionally covering music for primarily online publications, as well as some print magazines. I’ve critiqued artists who create pop, electronic, and rock music (or music that dabbles in all three). I’ve also interviewed up-and-coming musicians, more established artists, and non-musician creators.
My music journalism, as well as occasional coverage of other arts, has been published in Pitchfork, GQ, Billboard, MTV News (RIP), Paste Magazine, FLOOD Magazine, and what’s perhaps my favorite website, Kickstarter’s The Creative Independent.
Although the most household-name-adjacent musician I’ve interviewed is Phoebe Bridgers, my favorite conversations I’ve had to date are with the environmental activist drag queen Pattie Gonia and the unsparing memoirist Emerson Whitney. My favorite musicians are Mitski and Björk (I have a tattoo dedicated to the latter on my right arm).
Outside music and the written word, my passions include my cat (and probably yours), running and biking, and vegan baking and cooking — I’ve written and edited blogs and gated lead magnets, and edited vegan meal plans, for a leading vegan recipe brand. I try to embody my passions in all my writing.
Don't be shy! I look forward to hearing from you (:
